Women in Herbs

We are excited to introduce Women in Herbs, an initiative supporting around 30 women farmers in Dhankuta. Through this program, they will gain the skills, resources, and market access needed to grow a variety of herbs, including basil, lemongrass, lemon balm, hibiscus, mint, and tulsi.

Women in Herbs follows an organic, permaculture-based farming model that encourages women to grow herbs alongside their existing crops in farms and home gardens. Unlike monoculture, this approach improves soil health, boosts biodiversity, and creates a more resilient ecosystem. Each farmer grows a mix of herbs, and together, their harvests are collected and brought to our processing center.

A major challenge for smallholder farmers, especially women, is the uncertainty of where to sell, whom to sell to, and at what price. That’s where Khetipati Organics steps in. We guarantee to buy back a set quantity from each farmer, providing them with a steady income and reducing the risks of market fluctuations. This allows them to focus on growing quality herbs with confidence.

With global demand rising for natural and organic products, these herbs have strong market potential. By growing high-value, sustainable crops, Women in Herbs helps farmers generate extra income while making use of barren lands and fallow slopes. The herbs from this initiative will be processed and supplied to our partner industries such as skincare, tea, and herbal medicine. Whether infused in wellness teas, extracted into essential oils, or blended into skincare products, they will contribute to a growing demand for natural health solutions. Beyond farming, we provide hands-on training in organic growing methods, harvesting, and post-harvest processing. Our partner companies also offer technical support to ensure the farmers succeed.

At Khetipati Organics, we believe real change starts at the grassroots. As Women in Herbs grows, we aim to bring more women into the program and strengthen the supply chain. By promoting sustainable farming, economic security, and entrepreneurship, we are working toward a future where women farmers don’t just participate in agriculture they lead it.

Supporting women farmers and workers has always been on our mission. Women in Herbs is a reflection of our belief that when women grow, entire communities thrive. As a women-led company, we are proud to be part of this journey and look forward to seeing it flourish.
