At the heart of our business is the welfare of our growers, which is why we are based in and operate alongside rural farming communities.
Last month, we held three farmer group discussions: two in Dhankuta with our avocado and citrus growers, and one in Lahan with our mango growers. These discussions aimed to delve deeper into identifying the existing challenges they face in farm management, market access, and financial management.
Addressable Findings:
- Lack of irrigation during the dry season
- Lack of reliable marketplaces for their produce
- Unfair pricing by intermediaries
- High cost of farm management for annual harvests
- Lack of organic solutions for insect and disease control
- Lack of bookkeeping for farm income and expenses
Following the discussions, we conducted workshops focused on training farmers in bookkeeping, cost calculations, and pricing based on their financial and labor investments. These workshops were facilitated by Dr. Pradeep Patnaik and Suprava Acharya.
